UFO show / volume 1
Do you believe in aliens? Do they live among us? Did they teach us technology to study them? Has our government been hiding them from us? When will we make contact?
These questions have been shaping our culture for almost a century, fueling speculation and letting our imaginations run wild. The UFO has been a consistent theme, motif and idea in the American psyche since as early as the 1930s. From pulp fiction to the ever-present sci-fi genre, and to the rise of alien-centric cults, the belief that life aliens populate our societies and visit our world is pervasive.
The inaugural show for MOTHMA, The UFO Show, celebrates America’s love affair with the alien and their iconic craft, the UFO.
The UFO Show showcases paintings, photographs, ephemera and artifacts related to aliens and UFOs. Featuring the largest collection of oil paintings by David Huggins ever displayed on the West Coast, the exhibit sets the tone for MOTHMA’s mission: to spotlight overlooked and marginalized yet culturally significant artwork and objects. The show also features original Billy Meier photography, a MUFON letter archive, material collected from the Roswell crash site, and other rare artifacts, alongside limited-edition artwork and show merchandise.
